ALPENA — This young man wants to help victims of domestic violence, so he is hosting a pancake breakfast fundraiser for Hope Shores Alliance.

This fundraiser is Noah Pickelhaupt’s Eagle Scout project.

The breakfast will be held from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday at Builders Firstsource parking lot, 1441 M-32, Alpena. The event will be held, rain or shine, with drive-thru or sit-down options available.

Pickelhaupt is a member of Scout Troop 92 at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Alpena. He will be a sophomore at Hillman High School this year. His parents are David and Jennifer Pickelhaupt.

“(HSA) just sounded like a really good organization to raise money for,” he said.

He has been looking forward to becoming an Eagle Scout since he started in the Boy Scouts in first grade. “To me, it means a lot. I’ve been focused on getting my Eagle Scout (rank) forever, and now it’s right there.”

He said it represents dedication and leadership, and teaches you work ethic and skills for the future.

At the event, donations of the following items will be accepted for Hope Shores Alliance: paper products (paper towels, toilet paper, plates, napkins); kitchen items (zip lock bags, foil wrap, plastic wrap); trash bags (large kitchen 13 gallon, leaf and lawn 40-50 gallon and 2.5-3mil contractor bags); laundry supplies (detergent and dryer sheets); household batteries (all sizes); diapers and Pull-Ups (all sizes); baby powder; A&D ointment; new baby bottles; art and crafts sets for children; colored pencils and markers; adult coloring books; highlighters; Post-It Notes; legal pads; 2-pocket file folders; manicure sets (men and women); bath loofahs; brushes and combs; shampoo and conditioner; makeup remover; hygiene wipes for women; deodorant (men and women); tampons/pads; men’s body wipes; men’s and women’s shave cream and razors; bath towels; washcloths; twin blankets; Keurig single-serve coffee; and Forever stamps.
